The Graze V.173: A Structure of Belonging

Hi Friends:

It is with great joy that Mission Farm introduces ‘The Odeon’ - a gathering space in the heart of the Green Mountains.

This structure has been in the hearts of those who gather at Mission Farm for some time. Our community conversations have centered around spaces to connect with one another - to share stories, listen to music, to gather and have conversations. Stonewall artist Dan Snow and several apprentices completed this ‘structure of belonging’ at Mission Farm last month. On Sunday (August 27th), we invite all to join us for the Meadows and Mountains Festival.

Over the past few years, we gathered community members to envision our future. We acknowledged the isolation in our community and broken relationship with the land that we live on. We also recognized our responsibility to build bridges of belonging. The ‘Odeon’ is an artistic expression that physically represents the community we wish to create.

It represents our desire to support connection - connection with one another, the flora and fauna, the soil and water, and connection with something greater than ourselves. From the Odeon, we are given a view of belonging and hope.

The invitation is for each of us to be an investor and a co-creator in the communities in which we live. What kind of future do we want for ourselves and our children? What does it mean for us to ‘belong’? How do we want to live in relationship with the natural world? What does it mean to have faith in an interactive and reciprocal world? Imagine the possibilities!

With the joy of connectedness,

🌱 💚 Lisa
