The Graze V.179: Falling

Hi Friends:

Autumn is a glorious season in Vermont. Every morning the landscape is new. The yellow and crimson leaves dance to the forest floor - rocking back and forth on a breath of wind. The leaves joyfully join one another mid-air, not afraid of their release from the branch. They fall to the forest floor - sacred ground filled with death and new life.

Scientists tell us that the trees prepare for the cold by letting go of their leaves to conserve energy. There is wisdom in this movement. Autumn offers a pause - a moment of inward focus to reflect, recalibrate, to practice letting go without fear.

I wonder what it would be like to fall so fearlessly. What would it be like to just ‘let go’ and fall gently to the forest floor - joining the communion of saints on a soft bed of humus? Would we find companionship with the earthworms and microorganisms? Would we learn from the ancestral trees whose roots dig deep into the earth? Would we celebrate and have communion with all the woodland creatures?

Let’s fall - like the leaves, like the river - into Grace.

Blessings,

🌱 💚 Lisa
