The more-than-human community at Mission Farm consists of the Ottauquechee River, dramatic cliffsides, mixed deciduous forest, pollinator meadows, and orchards, and all of the vibrant diversity of plants, animals, microbes, and fungi that call those ecosystems home.
Being along the river bed and between two mountains means that we are a corridor for birds passing through on migration, as well as the witnesses to the beautiful movements of river fish up and down the Ottauquechee. The four acres of open land and orchard around the river bed are flanked with 176 acres of beautiful new england woods that rise along a steep mountainside on either side of the river.
This land with all of its complex web of life has been sacred to the Abenaki for generations.
